Questions, answered
Do I need an account to try it?+
No. Open the app and start writing today's note immediately. Create a free account when you want your notes saved to the cloud, searchable, and shareable.
Can anyone else read my notes?+
No. Notes are end-to-end encrypted: they're encrypted in your browser with a passphrase only you know before syncing, and the server stores ciphertext only. Not even we can read them. If you lose your passphrase, your recovery key is the only way back in.
What does my manager see?+
Only the notes you choose to send. Managers get a clean email summary and a read-only manager view where they can leave feedback on shared notes.
How do the AI summaries work?+
You bring your own OpenAI or Gemini API key and pick your provider in Account settings. Your notes for the selected period are condensed into a short, well-written recap — regenerate any time, previous versions are kept in history. You pay the AI provider directly; we never mark up or meter your usage.
Is my AI API key safe?+
Yes. Your key is encrypted in your browser with your vault key before it's stored — the database only ever holds ciphertext. It's decrypted on your device and used only at the moment you request a summary.
Can I use it just for myself?+
Absolutely. Skip the manager email entirely and use it as a private work journal with search, action items, and AI recaps.
What if I forget my vault passphrase?+
When you create your vault you get a one-time recovery key — store it somewhere safe (a password manager is perfect). It's the only way to unlock your notes if you forget the passphrase, because we never see your keys and can't reset them for you.
Can I export my notes?+
Yes. Download your full history as JSON or Markdown from your account panel at any time. Your notes are never held hostage.
Where are my notes stored?+
Locally on your device first, in your browser's storage — so writing and browsing are instant. When you're signed in with your vault unlocked, encrypted copies sync to the cloud so you can pick up on another device.
Is there a dark mode?+
Yes — light by default with a one-click dark mode, synced to your account.
